On July 12, 2017 a press conference, as well as groundbreaking, was held at 925 Church Street, the location of HFHNCC’s future project, Hope Run. This development is part of the ongoing 6-7 year partnership that HFHNCC established in 2014 as a partner of the Eastside Rising Initiative to build and refurbish the Eastside between 7th and 11th Streets and Church and Pine Streets. More than 150 community members, elected officials, corporate funders, and other supporters attended to celebrate the occasion including the Honorable Mayor, Mike Purzycki, Senator Margaret Rose Henry, Attorney General Matt Denn, and many others. Reverend Terrence Keeling of Central Baptists Community Development Corporation, led the press conference, allowing representatives from some of the local community partners to speak about the updates that have occurred in the community as well as some of the future projects to look forward to over the next few years. We were also able to hear from some of the future homeowners of the Hope Run project. Following the press conference, the ceremonial breaking of ground occurred, and a walking toured was led by some of the partners. The event ended at the garden where Iman’s Shrimp Chest (a local food venue) provided a small lunch and urban acres also provided guests with canvas totess bags stuffed with fresh fruits and vegetables.
