The 2017 Annual President’s Awards Dinner was held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Sheraton Wilmington South and there was a wonderful turn out with over 190 guests in attendance. We look forward to this special event each year because we are able to show our appreciation for our homeowners, volunteers, and donors. This year Charlie Maxx from 99.5 WJBR served as our Emcee for the evening and kept our guests engaged as we gave out eleven awards. This year’s awards went to Ruby Dyer, Habitat Employee of the Year, Capital One, Volunteer Group of the Year, Fred Lentz, ReStore Volunteer of the Year – Prices Corner, Jane Wharton, ReStore Volunteer of the Year – Middletown, Lowe’s, ReStore Donor of the Year, Mara Raskin, Volunteer of the Year, Debra Cifala, Homeowner Volunteer of the Year, Cindy Pettinaro Wilkinson, Fundraising Volunteer of the Year, Gary Davis, Tom Bissot Award for Construction Volunteer of the Year, Rachel Wood, Community Builder of the Year, and President’s Award of the Year, Bank of America.
This year was also a special year because Noreen Poole, Habitat’s former Board President, handed off the “golden hammer” to Rick Gessner passing him the torch to serve as the next Board President.
Some special additions to this year’s event included cellist performer, Csilla Lakatos who played during the pre-event hour, a professional photographer, Charles Lockerman, who captured the evening’s events and videographer, James Taylor, who was caught the entire event for us on camera.
We are also extremely grateful for our sponsors who made this event possible including; Delmarva Power, M&T Bank, Capital One, Highmark Delaware, Horace Mann, and Mark Deshon.
We also want to especially thank our Annual Dinner Planning Committee Members; Carolann Wicks, Noreen Poole, Stefanie Hummel, and Alexandra Gawel.
Please check back for photos and video footage of the event shortly!
